Health & Public Safety

The town of Canaan has excellent access to health and public safety resources. The volunteer fire department located in Beecher Falls is noted for its quick response time and professional, highly competent service. The Town is able to call upon the Vermont State police, Essex County Sheriff, and Border Patrol for assistance when needed.

A new Emergency Management System (EMS) consisting of area communities is in place and provides quality services to people in the North Country. The Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, which is located 8 miles from Canaan in Colebrook, New Hampshire, have outstanding medical facilities and a staff of dedicated medical professionals. The Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown, New Hampshire provides superb nursing home services to the senior citizens in the area.
