Delinquent Tax Collection
The collection of delinquent taxes is done within the Town Office.  The delinquent tax collector Dencie Cunningham handles everything in a separate office here at the Town Office.  The Town Office can answer general questions and tell you the balance of your account, but will not be able to set up a payment plan.  To do this either call Dencie Cunningham at here house, or set up a time to meet with her in the office.
Payment of delinquent taxes can be done through three methods:
1.     Deliver the cash or check to the Town Office at 318 Christian Hill Road, Canaan, VT 05903
2.     Mail your cash or check to the Town Office at Po Box 159 Canaan, VT 05903
3.     Mail your check or cash to Dencie Cunningham Po Box 4 Canaan, VT 05903
ALL CHECK CAN BE MADE OUT TO THE TOWN OF CANAAN

Tax Sales
The need for Tax Sales are determined by the Delinquent Tax Collector, Dencie Cunningham.  If she deems properties need to be put up for tax sale, delinquent taxes two years in arrears with no payment plan, she will notify the public through an advertisement in the News and Sentinel as well as on this webpage.  Tax sales typically happen in the Spring.
