GUV bags will be available at the Town Office, so come and pick yours up today!
We will meet at the Canaan Recreational Park on May 4, 2024, at 9:00AM. Here I will have snacks, water, and gloves for anyone who would like them. After everyone is set, we will hand out bags, if needed, and we will be off. If you want to participate in Green Up Day but not join the group, no problem! Just pick up the bags before or on May 4th, and go off on your own.
Full bags can be left on the roadside or brought to the Transfer Station. Please keep track of the number of bags you fill, as Green Up Vermont likes to have a tally. Please take pictures and share them here on the page or send them directly to me.
See you all on May 4th, 2024!

Thank you 2022 Green Up Day volunteers! This year Canaan filled over 50 bags for VT Green Up Day. CMHS student Jacqueline Giroux participated as one of the first ever GUV Student Mentees, with the Library Director as mentor working to create a coordinated effort to clean up in Canaan. Many young families participated, in addition to the Key Club, the Canaan Historical Society, library staff and many private citizens in groups and solo. Mike Hughes picked up 18 bags single handedly! Canaan does a wonderful job in so many area of town with this effort! We will continue have GUV bags at the Library and there are some at Town Hall as well. We at the library send in the statistics on participation and coordination and we are seeking more people interested to participate. Please let us know if you can help in any way large or small. Green Up Day 2023 will be on May 6th!
